Drogba has signed a 12-month contract with The Sports PR Company, run by Caroline McAteer, the Beckhams' former publicist and Outside Organisation press director, and former Chelsea PRO Pippa Hancock.
The agency will work with UK sports journalists and will also attempt to raise Drogba's profile internationally, particularly in the Asian and African markets.
The footballer recently caused controversy with an interview he gave to France Football magazine. Newspaper reports claimed that he had criticised his football club and his manager, but McAteer, who read the orginal interview in French, said this was not the case. She insisted the article had been badly translated and that he had not made these criticisms.
The agency's other football clients include Chelsea players Petr Cech and Michael Essien, Manchester United player Patrice Evra and Sunderland player Djibril Cisse.
